The Boy Who Tried to Pet the Wind
The Boy Who Tried to Pet the Wind
I tried to pet the windy breeze, It whooshed right past my hand. I chased it through the backyard trees— It didn’t understand. I offered it a doggy treat, I told it, “Sit!” and “Stay!” But every time I turned around, It whooshed the other way. I yelled, “Come here, you fluffy thing!” It didn’t even stop. It zoomed right up my pant leg And whooshed out at the top. So now I keep a leash with me In case it comes again— I’ll catch that breeze and finally have A pet that loves to spin.
