The Shopping List

We have had our payday, it happens once a month, As soon as we have got it, we seem to spend it all at once. After the standing orders and the direct debits, Paying for stuff we’ve got online, with the card of credit. The car needs to be ready, to take us to our destination, So, we need to fill it from a pump, at the petrol station. Then Its down the shops to grab a trolly, made of stainless steel, With a sticky handle that we wipe, and it’s got a wonky wheel. As you travel down the carpark it rattles and it shudders, Trying not to get the wheels jammed, in the drainage gutters. You go into the supermarket, with your shopping list in hand, And fill you cart with your supplies from a chosen brand. Down the aisle of household goods and round the bend it swings, The trolly has a mind of its own and keeps crashing into things. You’re not looking where you’re going and with a mighty clatter, The milk cartons fall from off the shelf, causing them to splatter. Store attendants are summoned into action and when the mess they see, A voice from over the intercom is heard “clean up in isle three”. Embarrassment is shown and your cheeks they turn bright red, So, you scuttle off into the crowd, to cause havoc at the till instead. You load up all your shopping, ham, tins, beer and toilet roll, You see if you forgotten anything, as down the list you scroll. it’s too late now to get it, as the queue behind begins to build, with impatient people with their shopping, in the trolleys they have filled. Stay inline is my advice and get the shopping that you’ve missed, When you venture out again next week with another shopping list.
