NEVER LEFT MY MIND

married different mornings, And watched the seasons change, Collected years like photographs, Yet nothing felt the same. I built a life from silence, Put smiles where pain should be, While strangers thought they knew me, There was a part they'd never see. For somewhere in the shadows, Beyond the hands of time, Lived a girl who never loved me, Yet never left my mind. Now age sits at my doorstep, And death is close behind, But if heaven grants one miracle, Let her finally be mine.
