Lineage - form Summary
A Genealogy of Collapse
The poem uses a mock biblical genealogy to trace a violent, unstable ancestry from Scream through human and religious figures to Nothing and Never. Each repeated "Who begat" makes creation sound mechanical and increasingly bleak. The final arrival of Crow does not resolve the sequence: he appears hungry, exposed, and helpless, reducing grand origins to raw bodily need and survival.
